In 2015, I led the launch of the first NFT with the artist and founder, Kevin McCoy. We coined the term "Monegraph" at the time, the term "NFT" (nonfungible token) was later coined by the financial markets, they are interchangeable.

 

In the early days of the "bitcoin blockchain," my task was to exhibit to artists and creators that the most secure form of contracts and payments was on the blockchain. Our audience then was skeptical, so we aimed to focus on artists rights and how they could be best protected - the concept and the product was too early for its time, until about 5 years later, the world woke up to "the NFT..." I recall thinking, this is what we created and a new market is now ready to explore what our founder Kevin McCoy and Anil Dash, brought to reality at the New Museum Conference, Seven on Seven. ​
